Questions About Our Services
Do you offer business phone services outside Prince George?
Yes! We offer phone system services all throughout Northern British Columbia and can make almost any change to our phone systems remotely.
What are your purchasing options?
We have multiple purchasing options available with options varying based on the type of system being quoted.
For premise systems
You can do two payments of 50% upfront and 50% upon project completion. You can also lease to own the system with no deposit required and 0% interest over 36, 48, or 60 months with a 15% lease buyout. The leasing options are through RCAP Leasing and allow for a lot of flexibility, just ask and either us or an RCAP representative will be happy to help.
For cloud systems
Your monthly cloud subscription will vary based on the tier you select for features and the length of the contract. The contracts can be monthly up to five years in length. For all subscriptions, we can either build in the installation to your monthly subscription for the first 12 months or you can pay it upfront. The monthly payments must be on a pre-authorised debit agreement.
Do you work on other business phone systems?
Yes, we can work on Toshiba Phone Systems, Nortel Phone Systems, NEC IPK and Electra Phone Systems, Panasonic Phone Systems and Mitel Phone Systems and many more.
How long will your phone services last?
This is a common question and it always depends on context. We have phone systems that were installed in 1997 and are still running smoothly to this day. You might wonder how something that is essentially a computer server could still be running after 20+ years but it is dependent on usage, the environment, and overall condition. Some manufacturers build equipment with quality in mind so much so that users only upgrade when they feel that they have outgrown their system while other users are forced to upgrade due to a system crash. With a known reliable system using a healthy UPS (uninterruptible power supply), in a low-dust and clean environment, with regular servicing, we expect a system to last at least 15 years but often this can be stretched a lot further. One thing to consider is that your PBX (private branch exchange) or the “brains” on your system is, in a basic sense, a server. If you treat your PBX as a server and take good care of it, there is a great chance that it will serve you well for many years. If you treat your PBX like a fridge and have the communications room filled with dust and heat or have boxes piled on top of it, we cannot expect a long life from the system.
Do you provide phone lines
Yes, in short, we do provide phone lines. If you want Do Tel to be your carrier, our lines are through the internet only, so we do not offer analog lines but our system can work with them. All our options include either Canada long distance or Canada and mainland United States long distance. We have a lot more flexibility than traditional analog lines and maintain superior voice quality over longer distances. We can give you a breakdown for how we would set up your phone lines at your business, just get in touch and give us the details of how your system is set up.
Do you troubleshoot Fax Issues?
Yes! We do troubleshoot Fax Issues.
Cloud Communications
Cloud phone systems are a way of delivering voice services over the Internet instead of using local phone systems stored in each building or office. Normally, when using a landline, dialing a number from a business phone would lead to the phone box (what we call a PBX or Private Branch Exchange) somewhere in your communications room. From the phone box, your call navigates to the central office where your call is routed through various carriers and then reaches the person or company you are calling. This is considered a traditional, on-premises, phone system.
In a cloud phone system, the phone box is no longer located in your office or building. With cloud voice services, your call is routed from your desk phone, mobile app, or desktop app, through the internet to a data center that centrally manages your phone system. From the data center, your call is routed to the receiving party via the internet, the telephone network, or both. All of this happens in a fraction of a second, so you will barely notice any delay or lag whatsoever if your internet supports voice over the internet.

Information
VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol. This is a method of providing voice communication over the internet. You can have VoIP phones without having IP phone lines (phone lines via the internet). A VoIP phone operates on data cables and is configured through your internal network. A benefit of VoIP or IP telephony is that you could unplug your desk phone and plug it into your neighbouring room’s data jack, and it would still maintain all your personal settings and function normally. Because of this, you can use your desk phone at a remote or home office too.
One thing to be aware of is that VoIP phones do have a higher price tag than digital phones due to the extra flexibility. You also need to consider your internet speed and internal network setup to see if you can support voice over the internet.
We can do it all so whatever route you would like to take, we can sit down and discuss your options further. We also analyse your internal network and external speeds and delay times to ensure that VoIP is a viable option for you. This is an important step to ensure that you have no surprises after purchasing a new system. An additional option? Use a hybrid system that will function on both traditional and modern technology, allowing you to evolve your communication as your business grows.
PBX stands for Private Branch Exchange, which is a private telephone network used within a company or organization. The users of the PBX phone system can communicate within their company or organization and the outside world, using different communication channels like Voice over IP, ISDN or analog Trunks (telephone lines). A PBX also allows you to have more phones than physical phone lines (PSTN) and allows free calls between users. It also provides features like transfers, voicemail, call recording, interactive voice menus (IVRs) and ACD call queues (Call Centre).
When choosing a phone system for your business, consider factors such as the size of your organization, your budget, your communication needs, and your technical capabilities.
The call quality of VoIP can vary depending on factors such as internet connection speed, network congestion, and the quality of the equipment used. However, with a good internet connection and high-quality equipment, VoIP call quality can be equal or better than traditional phone calls.
